1. Introduction

Tempo is software operated by A Garcia Ferreira & N Svetlov (ABN 65 695 548 985), a partnership based in Queensland, Australia, trading as Tempo AU ("Tempo", "we", "us", "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use Tempo, an AI executive assistant with a calendar interface available on both desktop and mobile, and related services ("the App", "our Service").

We handle your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

By using the App, you consent to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account and Sign-In Information

You sign in to Tempo using a Google or Microsoft account. When you do, we receive basic profile and account information from that provider, with your permission:

  • Google (OAuth): your name, email address, Google Calendar, and Gmail data you authorise
  • Microsoft (OAuth): your name, email address, and calendar, including Microsoft 365 accounts provided to university students

2.2 Information You Create in the App

  • Tasks, schedules, events, and scheduling preferences
  • Notes and Pomodoro (focus) session data
  • The email address you provide if you join the beta waitlist on our website
  • Communications and feedback you send us directly

2.3 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage and analytics data collected through Supabase (features used, interactions, and timestamps)
  • Device information (device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers)
  • Log data (IP address, browser type, and similar technical information)

2.4 Information from Services You Connect

When you connect a service such as Google Calendar, Gmail, your Microsoft or Outlook calendar, or Notion, we access only the data you authorise through that provider. This may include calendar events, the email content needed to prepare drafts and briefings, and the Notion pages you select. You can disconnect any connected service at any time.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the App and its AI-powered executive assistant features
  • Personalise your experience, generate scheduling recommendations, draft replies, and daily briefings
  • Process and manage your account and subscriptions
  • Send you service-related communications and updates
  • Respond to your enquiries and provide customer support
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use
  • Analyse usage patterns to improve our features and develop new ones

4. AI and Machine Learning Processing

Tempo uses artificial intelligence to analyse your calendar, connected tools, and usage patterns to provide personalised scheduling recommendations, draft communications in your voice, and other assistant actions. This processing occurs to deliver the core functionality of the App.

Some assistant features are powered by Anthropic. To generate suggestions, drafts, and briefings, relevant content from your account and connected services may be sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing and then returned to you. Anthropic processes this data to provide the response and, under its commercial API terms, does not use it to train its models. We send only what is needed to perform the action you have requested.

We are committed to using AI responsibly. Automated decisions made by the App regarding your schedule, inbox, or calendar are always recommendations. You retain full control over your calendar and can review, edit, or ignore any AI-generated suggestion before it is sent or applied.

5. How We Share and Disclose Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it with the service providers we rely on to operate Tempo, and only as needed to run the App:

  • Supabase: our database, authentication, and hosting provider
  • Google: for sign-in (OAuth) and access to the Google services you connect
  • Microsoft: for sign-in (OAuth) and access to the Microsoft 365 services you connect
  • Anthropic: for AI processing, where data may be sent to the Claude API to power assistant features
  • Other integrations you connect: such as Notion, where you authorise access
  • Legal requirements: where required by law, court order, or to protect our legal rights
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with appropriate notice to you

These providers are bound by their own data protection and confidentiality obligations and may use your data only to provide their services to us.

5.1 Overseas Disclosure

Some of these providers store and process data outside Australia, including in the United States. Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored with our hosting provider, Supabase, on secure servers. We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews.

While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data
  • Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Objection: Object to certain types of processing, including direct marketing

9. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the App and our website, remember your preferences, and understand how you use our service. You can control cookie settings through your browser, though disabling certain cookies may affect functionality.

10. Children's and Students' Privacy

Tempo is built for university students and is intended for users aged 16 and over. We recognise that some users may be under 18. If you are under 18, please review this policy with a parent or guardian and use Tempo with their involvement and consent where required.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 without appropriate consent. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

11. Making a Privacy Complaint

If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles or otherwise mishandled your personal information, you have the right to make a complaint.

Step 1: Contact us directly. Please email tempo.calendar.ai@gmail.com with the details of your concern. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to resolve it within 30 days.

Step 2: Contact the OAIC. If you are not satisfied with our response, or if we fail to respond within a reasonable time, you may refer your complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the App after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
